DESCRIPTION:Location\n\nRhode Island Hospital – Friday\, September 27 (8.00 AM – 5.00 PM)\nWarren Alpert Medical School of Brown University – Saturday\, September 28 (8.00 AM – 5.00 PM)\n\nAbout this event\nAttendees will learn about the issues impacting the health of Cabo Verdianos and gain the skills to address current and future health challenges facing the community in the islands and the United States.  The conference will highlight current collaboration between healthcare providers in the US and Cabo Verde and emphasize the following key issues: building workforce capacity\, medical education\, forming effective cross-cultural collaborations\, building community\, and promoting research. \nOBJECTIVES:  \n\nGain insight into the organizational structure of the current Cabo Verdianos health system\, and identify its key infrastructural pillars including facilities and services\, existing healthcare workforce\, current information technology\, and intrinsic challenges.\nAttain an understanding of the current health education system in Cabo Verde and address the current and future workforce needs. Identify the areas where CVAMS members have identified gaps and discuss their efforts to train Cabo Verdianos doctors\, nurses\, radiology technicians\, and others.\nDevelop relationship and community building skills across cultures. DESCRIPTION:The Cabo Verdean American Medical Society is delighted to announce our First Trip to Cabo Verde. \nThe 1st hopefully of many missions will be a Cultural and Scientific Exchange Program to take place from March 31st to April 8th of 2022\, designed to embed our members in the health care system in Cabo Verde so we can better understand the challenges of health care delivery and identify opportunities for improved collaboration. \nDuring this trip\, four clinical teams will be hands on\, in clinical immersions with local colleagues in Praia Hospital Agostinho Neto \nA general surgery Team will be run advances in Hernia Surgery Course and perform surgery with our local colleagues \nA GYN team will focus on Laparoscopy and Pelvic floor disorders \nIn Sao Vicente Hospital Batista de Sousa \nAn Ophthalmology Team will be performing cataract surgery \nIn Fogo \nA Mental Health Team will be focus on therapeutic intervention on Children victims sexual violence \nWe will also sponsor a symposium to discuss some of the major health care challenges in the Islands \nWe are extremely grateful for the companies that are sponsoring our trip with generous gifts of materials and medical equipment that without them this would not be possible. \nThey include\, Stryker \, Johnson & Johnson\, Medtronics\, Applied Medical\, Quill\, Bard and Alcon
