Born in Sao Filipe, Fogo, Dr. Pina is a board-certified pediatrician and the Network Pediatric Medical Director of the Family Health Centers at NYU Langone. He is an Associate Professor of Pediatrics at NYU Grossman School of Medicine.
Dr. Pina received his medical degree from New York University School of Medicine and completed Pediatric training and Chief Residency at NYU/Bellevue Medical Center. Subsequently he received a Master of Public Health Degree from SUNY Downstate. He has extensive experience in medical education and previously served as Program Director of the Pediatric Residency at SBH Health Systems in Bronx, NY. Dr. Pina has been a practicing pediatrician for almost 20 years and has substantial experience in practice management. His scholarly and advocacy activities have focused on improving pediatric care quality, addressing the social determinants of health during medical visits, increasing vaccination rates, PrEP use among adolescents, and health equity.
