Vanessa M. Britto, M.D., M.Sc., FACP

Dr. Vanessa Britto is Associate Vice President for Campus Life and Executive Director of Health and Wellness at Brown University in Providence, RI. She is a board-certified Internal Medicine physician having completed a Fellowship in General Medicine at Rhode Island Hospital and a Master of Science degree in Community Health at Brown University. Dr. Britto is an Assistant Professor of Medicine at the Warren Alpert Medical School at Brown and is a Fellow in the American College of Physicians. 

As a second generation Cape Verdean American, raised in Wareham, Massachusetts, Dr. Britto attended Wareham public schools and went on to obtain her Bachelor of Arts degree from Dartmouth College and her Medical Doctor degree from the University of Illinois College of Medicine. Dr. Britto has practiced medicine in a number of clinical settings including federally-qualified community health centers, private practice, and college and university health centers. 

Dr. Britto has held regional and national leadership roles in college health and higher education administration and is a trustee emerita of Bridgewater State University in Bridgewater, Massachusetts. In her current role, she leads a multidisciplinary team of over 200 clinical and healthcare professionals who support and care for a community of 10,000. She is a national and international speaker with a deep and broad understanding of the intersection of medicine, health promotion, and wellness particularly in the setting of higher education, women’s health and underrepresented communities of color.
